Trainings
Cause Collective provides our members with multiple avenues of educational support every year. Our monthly meetings, training series and mentoring programs are listed below.
You can find a complete list of scheduled trainings, and all other events, on our events page.
Local Funder Info and Nonprofit Resources
Cause Collective has collected some online resources, policy samples and some basic information on local funders to help members get the help they need faster.
Board Training 101
The Cause Collective Board 101 Training is a free 1 to 1.5 hour training for our member agencies. This presentation is a review of basic roles & responsibilities of a nonprofit board.
To request a training, click the link below to complete our request form.
Skill Share Program
Cause Collective's Skill Share program is a service for staff and the board at member nonprofits who are looking for one-on-one coaching. We connect them with a "Mentor" who can offer confidential mentoring. We offer three categories of skill share:
- Skill Share
One hour, one session. The topic is prompted by the mentee.
- Skill Share Plus
Four hours of content divided into 2 - 3 sessions. This service provides a more in-depth technical assistance in areas we have available specialists that typically include HR, Financial and Technology.
- Skill Share Mentoring
One hour a month for six months. Generalized nonprofit professional development for those new to the sector or their role.
Membership Meetings
Each Cause Collective Member Meeting includes a time for member representatives to introduce themselves and share any announcements with the group, along with some Cause Collective business and a short educational presentation. They are monthly on the fourth Tuesday of the month at 8:00, except July and December.
Cohort Programs
Cohort programs are developed on a 'as needed' basis and as we have funding. Our most popular one is the Successful Transitions program facilitated by Ingrid Kirst.

Nonprofit Lobby Day 2026
Nonprofits and the people they serve are impacted by policy-making every day. Nebraska Nonprofit Lobby Day is a great way to learn about how your nonprofit can engage with the Legislature in the legislative process (yes, lobbying is okay!). We'll also visit the State Capitol for some real-time practice. Our purpose is to help those with little or no experience see what happens at the State Capitol and to provide education to State Senators about the positive economic and social impact of nonprofits.
This year's Nonprofit Lobby Day will be held on Wednesday, February 25, from 8 am to 3 pm.
Registration is required to participate, which can be done by clicking the button below.
Information on 2025 Executive Orders Effecting Nonprofits
Part of Cause Collective's mission is to support its members through advocacy. We do this by helping them understand the importance of advocacy and by keeping tabs on what's happening in the Legislature related to nonprofits and the clients they serve.
INFORMATION ON JANUARY 2025 EXECUTIVE ORDERS:
We encourage members to stay updated on the current activities of the Federal Government. To continue to provide updated information and remain consistent in messaging, we are coordinating with NAM (Nonprofit Association of the Midlands) and encourage you to click the link below to view their Advocacy Page. The first two links on the right-hand side of that website have the most current information, and they will keep them updated.
Advocacy Education
Thanks to our friends at Coalition for a Strong Nebraska for sharing this great information to help nonprofits learn how to advocate and lobby. Check out the links below to learn more and help us educate our members and other nonprofits.
